V 6:5,6 We believe Jesus like Philip for who HE is, but to believe HIM for what and how he does it’s hard. My knowledge is my enemy to believe on his action. My knowledge says 5+2=7 and not 5+2=5000. Yes my knowledge is my enemy and hindrance to do his will.
In chapter 1, Andrew introduced Simon Peter to Jesus and here he introduced a boy with 5 barley loaves and two fish. Andrew knew that it would not be sufficient for the large crowd. I’m wondering, having known it why he should mention that to Jesus.
It’s amazing to worship the God of impossibilities. Jehovah Jireh our provider we praise you.
It’s interesting that Jesus withdrew into the mountain by himself (v 15) instead of trying to explain his purpose/plan to the people. There may be times when it’s better to avoid explaining yourself
Give us this day our daily bread. Verse 20: When the disciples were frightened, Jesus said, It is “I”, don’t be afraid. echoed “I AM WHO I AM” from exodus 3:14 what the Lord said to moses.
Jesus can do anything. We just have to say that we need a miracle
Jesus tests our faith to see if we believe Him and to trust that he can do a miracle
Jesus did miracles every where He went. His disciple knew that. Vs 6 – though Jesus knew what he was going to do He tests his disciples. I think both Philip and Andrew failed the test. They could have been confident that Jesus would feed them.
On the contrary, Jesus was always sad that people followed Him because of His miracles. So maybe the disciples did pass the test!
1. Jesus asked to test Philip, but Andrew volunteered to answer by introducing the small boy with the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes. Andrew believed that Jesus could do a miracle with it and brought the boy.
2. Andrew did not get credit for bringing the boy to Jesus. He played a humble role not expecting a reward.
I think and pray that I should be like Andrew, to volunteer when needed and to be humble, not expecting any reward in return.
12 அவர்கள் திருப்தியடைந்தபின்பு, …. 14 …மெய்யாகவே இவர் உலகத்தில் வருகிறவரான தீர்க்கதரிசி என்றார்கள். Joel 3: 26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied , And praise the name of the Lord your God , Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. 27 Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am Lord your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame. – the question we should ask ourselves ‘am I reached the level of satisfaction? God’s blessings are not partial!
Philip forgot what Jesus can do. He was talking about money. We should not forget that Jesus can do something in our lives.
From this passage we could conclude that God could do big things and he could do it in our lives.
1. Follow
-and a great crowd of people followed Him (v2). When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward Him (v5).
-we should not wait to see any signs or miracles to happen, we should simply accept His words and follow Him.
2. Fear Not
-Jesus said to them “it is I; do not be afraid” (v20). After seeing all the signs and miracles, even His disciples was afraid of seeing a person walking on the water. Who can walk on the water except Him. He is with us all the time, we should not fear at all.
3. Fulfill
-…for He already had in mind what he was going to do (v6). He knows how to fulfill our needs.
-Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again (v15). Jesus clearly knew that He came to the earth to fulfill Father’s purpose. He tells His disciples, “Gather the pieces that is left over. Let nothing be wasted” (v12). He talks about us!
Jesus when he was in the world, he had great responsibility to preach and save the sinners, but he was not only concerned for their spiritual needs but also their daily bread, in the same way Jesus also cares for our daily needs in this world
1) Even before the people asked for food, Jesus wants to feed the people and approaches his disciples. God gives us what we need at the right time. 2) Philip and Andrew only saw the current situation and thought all the people cannot be fed. They didn’t expect Jesus to do a miracle.
