The courageous act of the temple police and Nicodemus should be appreciated. The temple police are hired by the temple authorities and hence they had little power compared to the authorities. However, the temple police stood for truth no matter how insignificant they were. Similarly, Nicodemus was a minority among the majority. He did not fail to speak the truth. Let’s stand up for truth and justice.

The spiritually serious Pharisees failed to understand who the Messiah was. They were holding on to a single point, “No prophet from Galilee.”

Even though the Jews knew everything about Messiah and were waiting for the Messiah, they failed to identity the real Messiah as they had predefined ideas and because of their narrow mindedness. We also often times fail to seek God in the way God wants us to because of our narrow mindedness.

Though Jesus knew they were trying to seize him, (v28)he cried out and testifies God. Do we still stand for God in a tough situation?The pharisees kept clinging to the point that Christ cannot come from Galille. They failed to identify the Messiah who was in front of them.

Jesus divides both1. Religious crowd ( Christ or prophet)
2. Religious leaders ( 47-48) . (have you been lead astray? )
Let us go to straight to the source (Jesus) and drink. He is the only solution to our thirst.

38 He who believes in Me , as the Scripture has said , out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” – I believe, this is the greatest promise for His believers.

The Pharisees who knew the law cudnt accept Christ because they thought eternal life was through the law.But the common people believed in Him more easily.Only when we really thirst we need a drink. And only then we can drink from Him and never be thirsty .

if anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. When we seek god we are filled with the living water.(Jesus)

the Pharisees did not believe in Jesus and wanted to kill Him. We have to be like the crowd and believe in Jesus .

You have to feel sorry for the Pharisees who had their knowledge of the law and scriptures working against them (v 58). All the evidence was right there. It’s kind of like being born in a Christian family. What should be the catalyst ends up being the obstacle.

Pharisees think just because other pharisees and rulers did not believe him they are right. The officers were able to identify him right away.Someimes more than knowledge simple faith helps us.

1. Ambivalent people
-On hearing His words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the prophet” (v40). Others said “He is the Messiah” (v41). Still others asked “How can the Messiah come from Galilee” (v42). Still, many in the crows Believed in Him (v31).
2. Awful Leaders
-“Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? (v48). No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law – there is curse on them” (v49). The leaders’ knowledge was hindrance to them. Blind leading the blind!
3. Awesome God
-He pours His spirit on whom those who believed in Him (v39). And, He is still patiently waiting for everyone to come Him.
