v. 23: All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. In His forbearance, our sins go unpunished so that we will have faith on Jesus.
“But now a righteousness from God, apart from the law, has been made known…Where then is boasting” (vv 21, 27). God has levelled the playing field to make sure everyone entering his kingdom does so on His merit only, equally. Amazing…
We are justified by FAITH.
v. 23 all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We are justified freely by His grace through JC. So no boasting just humbled submission:) –
(v. 24) All are justified freely by his Grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
– We are justified NOT by our deeds or works! Whatever works we do is absolutely nothing for him, for he can do anything by himself that we can not even think of. We are justified purely by our faith in him, and purely by his Grace (v. 27-28).
– If we do only works and don’t have faith in him, during judgement even if we say “Lord, Lord did we not do these works in your name?”, then he will tell us plainly “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Matthew 7:22-23). That is where Christians are differentiating themselves from Atheist.
No boasting (v. 27)————-
The secret to understanding deeper aspects of being a Christian is in this one verse. Where then is boasting? This is Exact opposite of what is generally thought of Christianity.
Paul is asking us to ask ourselves ” what is the ONE GOOD thing that we think gives us meaning in our life”? No not your secret sins which no one boast about anyway. What is the BEST THING in our lives? The one thing that we are proud of. Morally good and decent person? Obedience to law? simply a better person in certain aspects. ah ah. It is excluded (v27).
IF that thing (whatever that may be – a good thing but could turn into a boasting) is not the cross of Christ, then the gospel of Christ may not have penetrated our souls. It is not mere forgiveness that is only one-half of Christianity but righteousness (v25)
Look at your strengths says Paul and exchange them with Christ. Not just your weakness (which we do anyway)
There is no one righteous by observing the law, but we are righteous only through faith in Jesus Christ. It is equally for everyone who believes in Christ Jesus(v22)Law is the knowledge of sin (v20)
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (v. 23). The hope is, we have redemption in Christ Jesus and the redemption is only by His grace as a gift (v. 24).
It says that God is not only the God of the Jews, but God is for everyone in the world, and there is only one God.
v. 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God – it is sad to note that some use this verse as a justification for their wrong doings, that is not good.- if we are cleansed then stay on, no turning back
Works have 2 types. One that Paul referred here; நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியை. The other we can read in James which is விசுலாசத்தின் கிரியை. I understood v28 like this:…மனுஷன் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியைகளில்லாமல் விசுவாசத்தின் கிரியைகளினாலேயே நீதிமானாக்கப்படுகிறான்
