The Canaanites were considered strong (Numbers 13). However, the same Canaanites have been made to do forced labor (v. 10). I’m not supporting forced labor neither would God support but I’m amazed by God’s doing. With God all things are possible.
Nothing really stands out in this chapter and I guess it’s been like this since the end of the wars and will be for a while. So they killed a lot of people and they are splitting the conquered land between them. If there is a deeper truth in these chapters I’m missing it.
The people who lived in tents are now blessed with land. God is faithful.
(v10) Israelites did not dislodge the Canaanites living in Gazer; to this day the Canaanites live among the people of Ephraim “but are required to do forced labor”.
-Like Gibeonites, Canaanites “agreed” to do forced labor for Israelites, so they were able to save their life!
-We should make covenant with the Lord, so we could save our life before and after death!
Our covenant with Lord gives us citizenship. We are not inferior to any human in this world. He calls us His own children.
