Benjamin is so lucky that he got “Bethel” where God gave vision in the dream to Jacob, and Jebusite city (that is “Jerusalem”), which became the Holy land of Israel.
-(Gen 28:17) How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.
vv. 8-10 AT JOSHUA’S DIRECTION: Seven tribes who had not yet received their inheritance sent surveyors to inspect their allotted territories. Joshua used their feedback to help divide Canaan. To make his final decision he elected to cast lots.
The Lord has already given the land but seven tribes among the Israelites were less concerned about going in and taking possession of the land. The seven tribes represent modern day laggards. Joshua as a leader made sure that the laggards were taken care of.
The Israelites depended on God to allocate the rest of the land but they did their part by surveying the land and splitting it into seven parts. Today’s allocation became significant for Benjamin as their position next to Judah enabled them to stay faithful by being with the house of David
v. 3 Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: “How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your has given you? – In spirit, we are all Israelites. The same question is applicable for us as well. The land is our heart. We need to posses / take control quickly.
