Joshua’s final words of exhortation:1. Steadfast to observe and do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses (v. 6).
2. Careful to love the Lord (v. 11).
Joshua’s farewell speech is very much like the speech Moses gave toward the end of his life (Deut 31). Keep the covenant of the Lord or face the consequences.
Joshua’s farewell speech clearly points out that God fought for them.
If God is with us nothing can shake us.
With God, one = thousand.
v16 If you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve the gods and bow down to them, the Lord’s anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you.
-(Luke 11:23-26) Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever doesn’t gather with me scatters. When an impure spirit comes out of a person comes find the house swept clean, it brings 7 other spirits wicked than itself, and the final condition of that person is worst than the first!
-(2 Peter 2:20) The one who escaped from the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning!
vv. 2-5,14,15 Joshua reminds the people about several things:1. You have seen that God is working for you.
2. You have seen that God is fighting for you.
3. God has given you land to live in.
4. God will continue to work for you.
5. God has kept all his promises and will keep all his promises.
We should always remember this. God is on our side. He is working for us. He is a faithful God who fulfills all his promises.
v.3 … உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்தாமே உங்களுக்காக யுத்தம்பண்ணினார். யோசுவா 23 :3 – Everyone realises God is doing something in their life but realising God only has done this for me is very difficult. I am telling this through my own experience. When I got a child after 12 years I could not understand it was done, only by God. Many other thoughts came in my mind
– Whether is big or small, good or bad, win or lose, it is from God… Such a realisation is extremely important
