Psalm 148: U.S Presidential Election Edition. Praise the Lord! Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven (vv. 1, 11, 13). Authority that fails to acknowledge God’s sovereign rule fumbles and falls. In contrast, an authority that acknowledges God’s sovereign rule flourishes.
We are nearing the end of the greatest singer/poet/Psalmist. It has been a long road. Indeed, I think Psalms are a picture of a Christian life. Starting with Psalm 1:1, with the enthusiastic great ideals of meditating day and night but slowly as life takes over we drift. We go through a range of emotions- joy, love, hate, worry, forgiveness, prayer, anger and indignation, suffering and despair. For some we get answer some we leave to God and keep moving on. But Verse 1 of Psalm 146,148,148,149,150 all start with ” Praise the Lord!”. This is the promise of the Bible.
No matter where our life starts Psalm 1 (starting) or Psalm 51 ( failing) or Psalm 91 (old age) , or any other Psalm, the ending will always be Praise the Lord because our God will get us to Psalm 150.
Only the Bible promises the life can end with a praise.
Praise is the last word from the lips of a Christian. And his everlasting.
Psalm 148 -(v5) Let them (sun, moon, star and etc) praise the name of the LORD, for at his command they were created.
-Those were created at his “command”. But, God created human being by His very “hands”, in His image. We are His own creation. Aren’t we supposed to praise Him more than anything else! But, Are we doing so?
