2 Thessalonians 2

2 Thessalonians 1 -(v4) Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
-It is possible that persecutions and trials are involved in God’s ministry. But, as a servant or believer of God, we need to be patient and our faith should increase.

2 Thessalonians 2: God has chosen us and called us to be saved through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth (vv. 13-14). Therefore, stand firm (v. 15).

Gripped by GodPaul rarely minces words. Every word is like a chemical element chosen carefully to give the T-church hope and strength. It sounds in first glance that When he tells them Stand firm and hold on (3:15) as if they are standing on a high wire . But he reminds them that they are under the grip of God therefore stand firm. There are six grips that holds them
1. V.13 Love. Beloved by God. The strongest grip.
2. V.13 Gods chosen. Special grip.
3. V.13 sanctified by the spirit. H. spirit grip.
4. V.13 believe the truth. Steel grip.
5. V.14 he called us. Solid grip
6. V. 14 share the glory with Christ. A shared grip
So then, v.15 be firm. How can we NOT?

2 Thessalonians 2 -(v13) …God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit ad through belief in the truth.
-We are already chosen by God. If our belief in the truth is firm we will be with Him in His glory.

2 thess 1———
Paul starts of the letter with thanksgiving. He gives thanks for two things: growth of love and increasing faith.
Not just love and faith but “growth” of love and “increasing” faith. It is what is unique in T church.
If church is a Kingdom of God then both increasing faith and hoeing love for one another is essential. When we see it in our church, we should always ought to thank God as it is right (v.3). It is fitting for a church.
After all don’t we all want sometimes to be boasted about ? (V.4).

2 thess 2, V15: So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings.
