There were two groups of people. One group demanding signs v 18 and the other group believing in him v 23. Jesus’ words and actions were the same. It was how the people perceived it.

Our Father’s house should be a house of prayer, it should never become a market place.

Church should be a place of sanctity, prayer and worship.

“His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.””‭‭John‬ ‭2:17‬ ‭NIV‬‬, we should go to worship our father not for any other miscellaneous things!!

Why was Jesus so angry? Afterall market place is not wrong. They probably bought the doves and animals for sacrificing to the Lord.I think Jesus is telling us when we gather in His name no worldly things can take place.

Probably Jesus did not want them to sacrifice the animals because he liked them.

Once we become His believers, then everyone is expected to lead a Chirst centered life whether it’s market place, office or home.

This passage talks about how we have to behave ourselves in our church.

Jesus was angry because they were not using the temple as a place to worship God.

(v24) But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.”
Jesus knew everything about everyone. So, we need to be extra careful in what we do.
(v15) Jesus himself a sacrifice to clean us and redeem us from all our sins so He got angry when He saw the tradings in Father’s house.

Sometimes when Jesus says something, we may not understand as disciples didn’t understand the raising of the church, we have to trust and believe his Word all the time

John 2:17 His disciples remembered that it is written:’Zeal for your house will consume me’. We should all have the Zeal for the church and drive out those who make the church as a Business Center. Here as well as in India.

Vs:14-17, Jesus is very angry on the people who thinks of church as business center. He himself shows his anger in action as well as through preaching. He is assuring to see the purity of our heart. Jesus is doing the miracles, using the servants miracle wine is distributed – God does extraordinary thru ordinary.

Jesus got angry when he saw the people made the church as business center and he raised his opinion and told them to stop. Often times in our church when we see worldly things happening, are we raising out our opinion and tell it is wrong OR do v restrain ourselves and think v should not hurt others feelings or others should not think bad of me. Church belongs to God and no worldly things should be done there.

I felt in this passage Jesus points to two things.
1. Though the animals might be as an offering to God, it is not right place to sell it. Any sacrifice/offering that we decide to give for God should be prayerfully decided before hand and not on the spot. I believe we should go prepared with that offering from home.
2. Church is a place to be kept holy. We should prepare ourselves to worship him in the church, but not to think and do worldly things. We should sanctify our hearts and souls as we are the Church of God.

John 2:17 The disciples though were fishermen without much education, they were able to relate to the prophecy about Jesus because they had learned the word of God . With Gods word as a lamp and faith we should be able to identify God’s plan.For this we have to equip ourselves by learning the word of God.

We should have spiritual fellowship inside church, not fellowship to have personal business for our benefits. The Japanese say we have three faces, First you show to outside world, Second you show to friends and families. Third you don’t show it anyone, its the truest reflection of who you are. But Jesus know all our three faces very well. We cannot hide anything from him. The people showed their first face, Jesus knew their third face.

25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man , for He knew what was in man.- we should avoid excessive praising of any preacher during introduction, however great we may think he is. Let it be short!
– avoid telling God in prayer that someone is so great. He knows me, morethan me knowing myself. Same with everyone of us; He knows in and out.
Another learning I could get is ‘avoid selling Jesus Christ to others rather share our experience with Him’. Let us draw a True picture. Let us avoid exaggeration while testifying Him.

I have one thing that I learned: The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this by?”Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days? But the temple he had spoken of was his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.” ~ John 2:18-22
I learned that when the Jesus said that he would raise the Temple in 3 days any the Jews say that it took 46 years to build, Jesus was taking about the Godly things but the Jews were thinking of the world things. We should always think about God any incorporate Him in our everyday situations and we shouldn’t cling on the things of this world.
