Jesus was purposeful during his earthly life, that is, to do the will of God who sent him and to complete God’s work (v. 34). The fields are ripe for harvesting, let’s partner with Jesus to complete God’s work for the glory of God.
Some people were looking for signs and wonders but the samaritans believed that Jesus was the savior of the world (v 42) just by hearing his words
V 6,8 and 42, Jesus created opportunity even with his tiredness and being thirsty to spread the truth and bring people into faith. Learnt to Seize the opportunity to witness Jesus event at the least expected moment.
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, my meat is to do the will of Him that sent me and to finish his work. This shows the commitment of Jesus towards the purpose he came to this world. When we also know our purpose in this world, we should be committed to the purpose and that should be our first priority.
1) Jesus knows the real purpose of his life in earth. 2) v39 many samaritans started to believe in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony. It all started with a sinner, and many believed.
Jesus sat down there coz he was tired & thirsty but now when his disciples got him food he didn’t even care for his hunger!! He was so focused on God work!! We sometimes get too focused on our worldly job and we dose off without even saying a prayer that day !!.. The Samaritans didn’t doubt the women(sinner) like the pharisees they walked down immediately to Jesus & believed He is the saviour of the world!! Amen to that!!!!…
Vs 42: they said to the woman, ” we no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves , and we know that this man really is the savior of the world. I don’t believe in Jesus because I come from christian family or name or listen to testimonies or even participate in bible discussion! :), I believe in Him because I need a Savior. ‘ O taste and see that The Lord is good..”
For many of us the million dollar question is this: do we know exactly what tasks He wants us get done during our life time? Do we know the specific details of the job ahead of us? We surely need Holy Spirit’s help to decipher.
1. Spread the Good news
-Samaritan woman left her water jar and rushed into the town to tell people (v28)
2. Stay Focused to do God’s will
-We are His disciples, we should bring more people closure to God (v35)
3. Set your heart clean
-So Jesus can stay in you (v40)
4. Salvation comes only thru Jesus
-Jesus is the Savior of the world (v42)
The samaritan woman rushed to share the good news about the Messiah v28 whereas the disciples are known for procrastination with a standard dialog saying it is still four months until harvest v35. We all should act like the Samaritan woman who understood the pricelessness of the living water that wells up to eternal life v14
-Jesus knows what you do even if he does not look.
More People believed after hearing His words.
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”John 4:34
” I have sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor” John 4:38
So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people. In the same way if we have met with Jesus truly, we would also go around telling to people. we don’t need a ministry/structure/rules to share about the Savior
Jesus got a lot of people to believe in him through one person he talked to. We should tell others how Jesus did miracles in our life. Those who hear it will become Christians.
The Samaritans testified Jesus as the savior of the world. The Jews did not pay attention and missed to see Jesus as the Messiah. As Christians we are just like these Jews missing the core of Christianity.
The women was very excited that she left her water jar and went to tell people about Jesus, like that we should be glad to share God’s word with others.
v32,33 “I have food to eat you do not know about.Who brought him something to eat?”The Holy Spirit helps in our lives to grow spiritually, if not, then we are also spiritually blind like the disciples.
God can use anyone to achieve his mission. He hates sin not sinner.
I was looking at the persons Jesus chose to share the good news Zacchaeus – chief tax collector
Saul – worked against Christians
Peter,John, James & Andrew – fishermen
Now Samaritan women
…If this is how Jesus Christ Choose His team, are we qualified to be chosen?😀
I started thinking what made these guys to get qualified for His ministry…
John 4:39-41I learned that we should be a testimony to God so others can believe in Him. Only then will God have more followers if each and everyone on us testify to Him.
